The 6th annual Three Rivers Community
Band Festival will be
held at
Upper St. Clair
Theatre, Upper St. Clair,
Pennsylvania on Saturday, May 2, 2009. Beginning
at
2:30 pm, the
festival will feature up to 4 bands performing 20-minute programs of
their choice, plus a Festival Band comprised of musicians from many
community bands. Musicians and
audience are invited to
mingle in the cafeteria during a reception following the festival.
Timeline:
- November 10, 2008: application should be received by committee
- December 12, 2008: notification to bands if they have been chosen to perforrm
- by February 15, 2009: bands chosen to perform at the festival :
- pay a $150 non-refundable festival
support fee
- provide
a tentative/working program
(Bands working on the same piece will be notified by February 20, 2009
in order to consider alternate programming.)
- provide information on
appropriate venues in their area of origin for advertising and promotion (eg. local
newspapers, event calendars, etc.)
- by April 1,
2009:
- provide final information
for the
printed programs (The
festival handles
printing arrangements and costs.)

- Updated Band Roster
- Program notes for musical
selections
- Brief biography of the band
- provide program
notes for use by
announcer
- submit all requests for percussion
equipment. (See below for what is provided.)
- requests for a piano

tuning charge split among groups requesting this)
- Saturday, May 2, 2009: Three Rivers Community Band Festival
- warm-up/staging areas available at 1:45 pm
- band performances begin at 2:30 pm, 20 minutes for each band.
- band members are encouraged to be in the audience when not performing, in order to enjoy the performances of the other groups
- each band asked to bring 30 dozen cookies for the
reception (home-made and/or store bought)
The
2009 Festival provides for performing bands:
- Program printing for the festival
- Pre-festival
advertising and promotion
- On-stage chairs
- 70 music stands on-stage
- Podium for
conductor
- Conductor's music stand
- Percussion equipment:
- bass
drum
- snare drum
- tympani (4
drums)
- chimes
- other
equipment may be requested. We will attempt to
accommodate such requests, but there are no guarantees. You
should
plan to bring any other equipment you need.
- Piano.
This must be requested one month prior to
festival. There may be a tuning charge to requesters.
- A table in the lobby on which you may put promotional
materials
