Our Mission

The goal of the Three Rivers Community Band Festival is to promote awareness and appreciation of the cultural asset we have in our local community bands as well as promoting participation in these ensembles by amateur musicians of all ages and walks of life. To this end, we aim to produce a memorable event that serves as a highlight of the musical year for local musicians and audiences.

History

The first Three Rivers Community Band Festival was partially funded by monies granted to Roger Schneider from the WQED-FM/Dominion Volunteer In The Arts (VITA) award. This inaugural celebration of community bands in the Pittsburgh area was presented on April 4, 2004 at the Upper St. Clair High School Theater and was a phenomenal success. The festival has since been an annual tradition each spring, inviting performances by various community bands from Southwestern PA and eastern Ohio as well as renowned guest conductors from both the local area and from around the country.
