Pittsburgh Band to Host National Music Convention
Mayor Peduto proclaims April as “Month of Music”
In 2016, the Association of Concert Bands will hold its 38th annual national convention in Pittsburgh March 30 – April 2. The festivities will include THREE RIVERS RHAPSODY, four evenings of FREE concerts at historic Soldiers and Sailors Hall in Oakland. Performances will be given by 10 of the nation’s finest bands, including a full-length opening night concert by Pittsburgh’s own River City Brass.
In celebration of Pittsburgh’s role as host city of the 2016 national convention, Mayor William Peduto recently presented a proclamation to local organizers representing the East Winds Symphonic Band, which was chosen to host the convention and performance events.
Mayor Peduto has proclaimed April 2016 as “The Greater Pittsburgh Community Concert Band Month”, since the month will begin with the ACB 2016 “Three Rivers Rhapsody” series of 10 FREE community band performances at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall in Oakland and end on April 23 with the 13th annual Three Rivers Community Band Festival in the South Hills.
For more information about the concert series, visit the ACB 2016 website and the Three Rivers Community Band Festival website. A flyer about the concerts is available by clicking here: ACB Concert Series Flyer. To read the proclamation, click here.
